Anti-Aging
Anti-Wrinkle Treatment (Botulinum Toxin Type A)
What Is Anti-Wrinkle Treatment?
Anti-wrinkle treatment involves the use of botulinum toxin type A, a prescription-only medicine, to temporarily reduce muscle activity in targeted areas of the face.
Treatment is provided by a registered health practitioner following an individual medical assessment. It is not suitable for everyone.
How It Works
Dynamic facial lines form from repeated muscle movements over time. By reducing the activity of specific muscles, anti-wrinkle treatment can temporarily soften the appearance of lines in treated areas.
Common treatment areas may include:
· Frown lines (between the eyebrows)
· Forehead lines
· Crow’s feet (around the eyes)
The suitability of treatment and expected outcomes vary for each individual.
Consultation & Assessment
A thorough consultation is required before treatment. This includes:
· Review of medical history and current medications
· Assessment of facial anatomy and muscle activity
· Discussion of possible risks, benefits, and alternative treatments
· Determination of suitability for treatment
Treatment is only provided when clinically appropriate.
What to Expect During Treatment
· Small, targeted injections administered by a qualified practitioner
· Treatment is generally quick and minimally uncomfortable
· Most patients can resume normal activities immediately
· Results develop over several days, with maximum effect typically at around two weeks
· Effects are temporary, usually lasting several months
Risks & Considerations
As with all medical procedures, there are risks. Potential side effects can include:
· Bruising or swelling at the injection site
· Headache or mild discomfort
· Temporary asymmetry or drooping of the eyelid/brow (rare)
· Allergic reactions (rare)
Treatment may not be suitable for people who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have neuromuscular conditions, or are taking certain medications. Risks and suitability will be discussed during your consultation.
